On Monday, I imported some of my assets into UE4 to see what they would look like:
This is where I discovered that my old tree texture's normal map was too intense and decided to stylise it more. I also discovered that I needed to redo the wood ends, as the normal maps weren't quite lining up properly with the actual topology of the wood planks (and the normal maps of the wood ends needed flipping as mentioned in a previous post).
I went back into 3ds max and fixed the issues:
